IPL 2020 RCB vs KXIP Match Highlights: The sixth match of the 13th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was played between Royal Challengers and Kings XI i.e. RCB vs KXIP, in Dubai. In this match, Kings XI Punjab defeats Royal Challengers Bangalore by 97 runs and registered their first win of the season in a one-sided match. Thanks to a brilliant century by their captain KL Rahul.
In this match, RCB captain Virat Kohli won the toss and decided to bowl first. In such a situation, the Punjab team scored 206 runs while batting first. Punjab captain KL Rahul took faced Bangalore bowlers fiercely and hit 132 (not out) runs in just 69 balls. This century of KL Rahul overshadowed Bangalore’s team. After that, his bowlers did not give RCB any chance to survive the match.
While chasing the target of 207 runs, Bangalore’s team proved to be a batting flop. The team scored 109 runs in 17 overs and could not even surpass KL Rahul’s personal score. Bangalore lost this match by a big margin of 97 runs.
This is Punjab’s first win of the season and it has recorded as the biggest win of the season so far in terms of runs. Rahul was selected as the Man of the Match for this great batting. Apart from Rahul, Murugan Ashwin (3/21) and Ravi Bishnoi (4/32) shared 3 wickets each.
Great Start For The Kings XI Punjab
Batting first, Skipper KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal made a great start for Kings XI Punjab. Both the batsmen added 50 runs in the powerplay without losing any wickets.
Just as the powerplay ends, Captain Kohli put his smartest bowler Yuzvendra Chahal on the attack. Chahal makes no mistake and successfully makes Agarwal a victim of his googly. This way, Punjab gets their first blow in the form of Mayank Agarwal. Mayank scored 26 runs with the help of 4 fours in 20 balls.
At the other end, KL Rahul continued scoring runs. Rahul completed his half-century in just 36 balls. It was his 17th half-century in the IPL.
Kings Scored 74 Runs In The Last Overs
After Agarwal’s dismissal, Punjab’s star player Nicholas Pooran came to the crease. Pooran shared a 57-runs partnership with Rahul for the second wicket. His contribution was 17 runs in 18 balls. Soon, Punjab gets their second blow as Pooran became the victim of Shivam Dube.
After some time, Glenn Maxwell was also caught by Aaron Finch for 5 runs by Shivam Dube. After this, Karun Nair came to bat and put KL Rahul on strike. And the Kings team scored 74 runs in their last 4.
At the time of Maxwell’s dismissal in the 16th over, Punjab’s score was 128 runs. It seemed that the team Royal Challengers will now curb the Kings. But the King’s captain was at the crease and he changed his gears, sensing the circumstances.
Kohli Drops The Catch, Rahul Pulls The Match
After 16 overs, Rahul had only 72 runs in his account. After this, in the last 15 balls of his innings, he made a quick 50 runs. During this time, on most occasions, he kept the strike in his, hand and Karun Nair (15*) standing at the other end got only 8 balls to play.
Rahul got life on two occasions here as Bangalore’s captain Virat Kohli makes two big mistakes. On both occasions, captain Kohli dropped two easy catches. Rahul, taking advantage of the opportunity, completed his century in just 62 balls.
Rahul did not stop till he scored a century, and he scored 44 runs in the last 10 balls, bringing the King’s score beyond 200. He, in his innings, with the help of 14 fours and 7 sixes, scored 132 not out runs from 69 balls. Not only this, but his score is also the highest score of an Indian in the IPL. The earlier record was in the name of Rishabh Pant (128 not out).
Bangalore Scattered As Top Order Failed
The pressure was evident on the Royal Challengers Bangalore team, chasing a target of 207 runs. They lost his 3 crucial wickets at the beginning of the innings. Devdutt Padikkal (1), who had a great fifty in the last match, and Skipper Virat Kohli (1) were picked by Sheldon Cottrell, while Josh Philippe (0) was sent to the pavilion by Mohammed Shami. On a total score of just 4 runs, the Royals lost their 3 crucial wickets.
Punjab Bowlers Played Magic
The entire top order of RCB including Virat failed as Punjab bowlers gave them no time to set on the crease. The first blow to Royal Challengers Bangalore was on a score of just 2 runs when Devdutt Padikkal became the victim of Sheldon Cottrell by scoring 1 run. Shortly thereafter, Josh Philippe was sent back to LBW by Mohammed Shami.
The biggest shock to the team was in the form of captain Virat Kohli. He got his catch to Ravi Bishnoi by scoring 1 run off the ball of Cottrell.
After captain Kohli, Finch was made victim of Ravi Bishnoi. Batting on 20 off 21 balls, he was bowled by Ravi and sent back to pavilion.
Both the leg-spinners performed brilliantly for Punjab. Murugan Ashwin and Ravi Bishnoi took 3-3 wickets. Sheldon Cottrell took 2 wickets. Shami and Maxwell got 1-1 wickets.
De Villiers And Sunder Tried Best, But…
After losing 3 wickets in starting, Aaron Finch and AB de Villiers tried to handle the innings. De Villiers also hit 4 boundaries and 1 six from one end. From the other end, Finch was accumulating the innings and had hit only 3 fours. But Ravi Bishnoi bowled him.
De Villiers started well but he has settled at 28 runs, as in the next 3 balls, Murugan Ashwin trapped de Villiers in his net. At this point in time, the Royals team had lost 5 wickets for 57 runs.
However, Washington Sundar on the other end was playing good. He knocked 30 runs from his bat but it was not enough. And his innings was ended by Ravi.
7 Players Out Before 90
After De Villiers and Finch, Royal’s defeat was almost settled. But Shivam Dube, along with Washington Sundar, tried to reduce the margin of defeat, but Maxwell bowled Dube (12) on the score of 83 to give RCB their sixth blow. Just after that, Umesh Yadav was also bowled by Ravi Bishnoi. RCB lost their 7th wicket here.
Just moments later Navdeep Saini (6) and Yuzvendra Chahal (1) were taken by Ashwin. After reaching 109 runs, RCB lost all 10 wickets.
