Highlighting the importance of the Question Hour and the work of a private member, he mentioned that ‘they are a part of the principle of separation of powers and are essential for the survival of parliamentary democracy’.

Amidst opposition from Congress and many other opposition parties, the government during the Monsoon Session of Parliament, the proposal for suspension of the Question Hour, and the work of private members were put in the Lok Sabha on Monday, which was approved by the lower house.

Opposition parties opposed the suspension of the question hour and accused the government of avoiding questions, which the government said was an extraordinary situation in which political parties should cooperate.
